Customer Complaints Rise After “Squashed Parcel” Incident Involving Large Plush Toy

Filed: Local Desk Status: Reported Ref: CW-LOC-HUG-001

Customers on a residential route raised concerns this week after reporting multiple parcels arriving “unexpectedly flatter than intended.”

At the centre of the complaints is a large plush toy, described on its packaging as “Mr Huggy Bear — Extra Soft, Extra Cuddly.”

By the time it reached its destination, witnesses say Mr Huggy Bear appeared to have lost much of both qualities.

According to the customer, the parcel arrived with visible compression marks and a distinct impression consistent with “someone having landed on it.”

The courier involved has acknowledged the damage, stating the parcel was “accidentally dropped during routine handling.”

Witnesses offered a slightly different account.

Witness: “He didn’t drop it. He tripped over his own foot. The parcel just happened to be underneath him at the time.”

Another witness described the moment as “avoidable, but committed to.”

The courier, who was not named, declined to comment further but confirmed the incident occurred “very quickly” and that the parcel “broke the fall.”

When asked about the condition of the item inside, the customer said Mr Huggy Bear was “not happy about being landed on” and now sits “with a permanent lean.”

Customer: “He looks like he’s seen things. And not the good kind.”

The delivery company has confirmed the incident is under internal review, noting that plush toys are “not typically rated for impact absorption.”

A spokesperson added that staff are reminded to “maintain situational awareness of both feet.”

No injuries were reported. Mr Huggy Bear is said to be recovering.

Courier Weekly reminds customers that while parcels are designed to withstand normal handling, they are not intended to function as safety equipment.
